Mooring Finder helps save GPS coordinates and point you back toward a saved mooring. No account is required.

  2. Enter coordinates for the mooring or destination.
  3. Use decimal degrees, degrees with decimal minutes, or degrees/minutes/seconds.
  4. Review the parsed coordinate before saving or navigating.

Save a Mooring

  1. Enter valid coordinates on the Find tab.
  2. Tap the save option.
  3. Add a name and optional details.
  4. Save the mooring to your on-device list.

Navigate to a Mooring

  1. Open Saved Moorings.
  2. Select a saved mooring.
  3. Tap Navigate to Mooring.
  4. Allow location access if prompted.

A physical iPhone gives the best compass experience. Simulators and some devices may not provide reliable heading data.

iCloud Drive Backup

Open Settings to enable optional iCloud Drive backup. Backups remain off until you turn them on. You can keep the default private iCloud Drive location or choose another folder available through the iOS Files picker.

When enabled, Mooring Finder automatically backs up saved moorings after changes. You can restore a backup from the same Settings screen.

Troubleshooting

The app is waiting for location or heading.

Make sure Location Services are enabled for Mooring Finder in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services. For heading, use a physical iPhone and move away from magnetic interference when possible.

Coordinates are not accepted.

Check that latitude and longitude are both present and use a supported format. Direction letters such as N, S, E, and W can help clarify the coordinate.

The backup location is unavailable.

Open Settings in Mooring Finder and choose the backup location again. The Files provider may require sign-in or reconnection.

I still need help.

Email [email protected] and include the app version, iOS version, device model, and a description of what happened. Please do not email private mooring locations unless they are necessary for troubleshooting.
