Information Handled by the App
Student Driver may store information you enter, including:
- The driver's name, state, and configured hour goals.
- Saved supervisors and cars.
- Drive dates, start and end times, duration, night-driving minutes, and optional mileage.
- Optional start, stop, and checkpoint descriptions.
- Road, weather, traffic, skill, and note information.
- Backup and report files that you choose to create.
On-Device Storage
Your driving records are stored in the app's private storage on your device. Student Driver does not require an account and does not upload this information to a developer-operated server.
Reports and Backups
Manual reports and backups are created only when you request them. You choose where to save or share these files using iOS.
If you enable automatic backups, Student Driver saves JSON backup files to the Files or iCloud Drive folder you select after saved changes. The app retains the five most recent automatic backups in that folder. You can change or remove the selected folder at any time.
Files stored with iCloud Drive or another Files provider are also subject to that provider's terms and privacy practices.
Location
Student Driver requests When In Use location access only after you use Start Drive or Stop Drive. The app requests one location at each action and converts it to a readable place description.
Student Driver does not continuously track location and does not use background location tracking. The readable place description, not a route history, is stored with the drive. Location access is optional, and locations can be entered manually.
Data Collection and Tracking
The developer does not receive your driving records or location data. Student Driver does not include advertising, third-party analytics, cross-app tracking, or data-broker integrations. The developer does not sell personal information.
Children and Families
Student Driver is intended for families and supervised drivers. Because the app does not use developer accounts or a developer-operated data service, the developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app. A parent or guardian should supervise the app's use when appropriate.
Retention and Deletion
On-device records remain until you delete them, erase the app's data, or uninstall the app. You control exported reports and manual backup files.
When automatic backup is enabled, Student Driver keeps the five most recent automatic backups in the selected folder. You can delete those files using the Files app.
Security
Student Driver relies on iOS device protections and the security provided by your selected Files provider. No storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Changes to This Policy
